As Halloween approaches, a strange phenomenon occurs: a pumpkin field suddenly appears around the château, though no one has ever planted it. Guarded by black crows, the pumpkins seem to herald the start of disappearances: a dog, a hiker, then teenagers in search of thrills. All of them follow a winding path leading into the Spider Forest, an ancient wood whose branches, webbed with silk, blot out the sky. There, they say you can hear footsteps that are not your own, whispers in the wind, and see strange figures lurking in the shadows.

At the heart of this forest lies the old Aubusson cemetery. Beneath a cracked stone slab rests Marie, who died on October 31, 1669. Daughter of the lord of Castel Novel, she was to marry a cruel old baron, but her heart belonged to Thomas, a young stable boy. When they were discovered, Thomas was hanged at the gates of the château, and Marie was imprisoned. On Halloween night, dressed in her wedding gown, she leapt from the top of the tower, leaving behind a letter: “Love, like death, is but an invitation to another dance.” Ashamed, her family buried her far from the manor. Since then, her spirit has wandered, searching for Thomas in the gardens, the woods, and the château’s corridors.

Every autumn, like a bride opening the ball, she reappears. She crosses the pumpkin field, followed by crows and monstrous creatures, floats through the Spider Forest, and kneels before an unmarked grave. But to meet her gaze is to lose your soul, dragged into her eternal dance of death.
